From 1956-1973 Professor Hemphill was Chairman of the Biology Department of Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA. As chairman he was Director of the Mendocino Biological Field Station located at the mouth of the Albion River, Albion, CA. He studied the Albion River habitat and wildlife for over forty-two years. His life's work and court declaration of 1989, on behalf of our wetland and forest species was instrumental in saving the Enchanted Meadow eco-system.
